Big Yellow Blobs

Big Yellow Blobs and the Box that Buzzes is an interactive immersive artwork designed to transport viewers into an alternate, whimsical reality.

This surreal playground is filled with spectacle, illusion, and a hearty dose of silliness, encouraging a communal sense of playfulness among its audience. By engaging with the installation through touch, sight and sound, participants become part of the artwork itself. Emphasising the joy of play, this piece is a fun, large-scale experience where art meets the absurd, inviting everyone to join in the fun and embrace the weirdness

Matthew Tully

Matthew Tully (Born in a barn, Mansfield, 1987) is a designer and maker, based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. His work, in its various forms, explores the world of play and its role in design, performance and culture. In his work Matthew utilises his years of experience as a set builder and a prop maker, along with his love of storytelling, to create surreal (often silly) happenings or spaces in which he invites the viewer to explore and discover through play.

Matthew is particularly interested in how people may use play to develop visual vocabulary, through which they may learn, communicate and greater express themselves. He explores this idea through his work with the National Theatre’s ‘SpeakUp’ schools programme. He works with secondary school students to co-create interactive artworks, games and performance that explore identity, community and environments.

Matthew is also an associate practitioner with the pioneering theatre company, Imitating the dog. Having joined them in 2020.
