Blackpool’s award-winning Lightpool Festival returns for 2019, catapulting Blackpool’s town centre and glittering Golden Mile into the realms of light fantastic fantasy like you’ve never experienced before! 

The 2019 Lightpool Festival invites you to immerse yourself in an extraordinary universe of spectacular live performance and art trail adventures. Enjoy our family friendly workshops, spellbinding interactive public talks and get up, close and personal with legendary storytellers Mama G and Garzagle the Post Alien from Pluto in our community led light themed activities and free family events.

Lightpool Festival 2019 Art Trail

Gaia

Gaia

Measuring seven metres in diameter, Gaia features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the Earth’s surface*. The artwork provides the opportunity to see our planet on this scale, floating in three-dimensions. 
Brilliance

Brilliance

This light and sound show was the first of its kind in the UK. Based on a continuous ribbon spiralling in and out of the ground, its six metal arches criss-cross Birley Street with custom-designed luminaires.

SUN

A world premiere, SUN is a partnership between public artist Alex Rinsler and Professor Robert Walsh, one of the UK’s leading solar physicists.

A Trick of The Light

Exhibition with works by Brass Art, Mat Collishaw, Rachel Goodyear, Helen Maurer, Tim Noble and Sue Webster and items on loan from the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum at the University of Exeter.
