We Are Blackpool

Representing Blackpool’s vibrant local community, with a bespoke soundtrack, We Are Blackpool is a once in a lifetime snapshot of soulful reflections and poignant, personal perspectives.

Honest, raw, real. Words weaved with wonder by a poetic maestro.
Aiming to give everyone a magical glimpse into the special place Blackpool is, its unique history and its diverse and eclectic communities.
The result is a warm and witty poem, showcasing the towns people, passions, and cultural credentials.

Councillor Lynn Williams : Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Tourism, Arts and Culture commented:
“It’s quite appropriate that the theme for the Lightpool Festival is to illuminate all things light fantastic and Nathan Parkers illuminating poem is a great way for us to shine a bright light and illuminate all the individual and collective stories that make Blackpool so unique.

It’s always difficult to capture everything about a place and its people, especially in a town that has such history, character and depth, but Nathan has used poetry as a form of illumination, to light up the people, their thoughts, ideas, hopes and dreams.

With progress as our towns motto, We Are Blackpool, shines a light on the tremendous backgrounds, experiences and personalities that bring the life and soul of our town to light!

I found it quite emotional when I first heard the poem, and I am sure that our residents and people across Blackpool and beyond will love it and quite literally see Blackpool in a whole new light.”
