RGB is a series of three glowing human sculptures created entirely from recycled electronics and powered by solar energy. Each figure is lit from within by one of the three colours that make up every digital screen: red, green and blue.
These colours aren’t just for effect. They represent the way we experience the world through phones, tablets and televisions. From morning alarms to bedtime scrolling, RGB reflects how much of daily life is shaped by screen-based technology.
The sculptures are made from e-waste collected and repurposed by hand, including old phones, wires and discarded circuit boards. What was once electronic rubbish becomes something vibrant and alive. In the daytime, the sculptures show their raw industrial surfaces. At night, they transform into glowing figures that feel alive with colour and energy.
RGB invites people to think about the impact of technology on our lives and our environment. It asks where all this waste ends up, and how we might use creativity to give it new life. By running entirely on solar power, the sculptures offer a sustainable vision for how art and technology can work together.
This work is designed to be both thought-provoking and accessible. It catches the eye, starts conversations and encourages families and festivalgoers to think differently about the world around them. RGB turns yesterday’s discarded tech into something beautiful and unforgettable, reminding us that light, colour and imagination can come from even the most unlikely places.

Scott Chaney
I’m a Yorkshire-based artist who builds glowing sculptures out of old electronics and recycled materials. My work explores how much we rely on technology in everyday life and how quickly we throw it away. I take e-waste and turn it into something bold, colourful, and full of life, using light to bring it all together.
Sustainability is at the heart of what I do, and I try to make people stop, look, and think.
